Woman’s ‘inappropriate’ work outfit sparks heated debate – as male colleague weighs in

A woman who claimed her work attire drew a complaint from her company’s human resources department has revealed the “inappropriate” office attire online.

The woman, who did not share her name and is from the UK, shared her outfit on social media, amassing more than 100,000 likes.

“I had an email from a lady in HR about my outfit for work. Apparently it’s inappropriate,” she complained.

“I don’t think it’s too bad.”

The young worker then stopped to reveal her entire outfit: a short black dress with a high neckline.

She then filmed herself asking her male colleague for advice and asked him if he thought her outfit was appropriate for the office.

She said the email she received described her outfit as “disturbing”, but the male co-worker eased her concerns and said he thought it was fine.

Things did not end there.

The woman said that after the email, she had a meeting with the HR representative who had initially commented on her clothing. And during that meeting, the same woman who made the complaint kept asking what she was wearing on their date.

She once again took to social media to share what she was wearing, which was a short black V-neck dress with long sleeves.

“I’m basically in a blazer! So she can’t be crazy. It’s low, but who cares? – she argued.

She said the human resources worker said she was “a little disappointed” in the outfit she had chosen to wear for the meeting.

The worker then defended the first dress she wore and said her male colleague said it was fine.

“I don’t think he was able to say what he did,” the HR woman replied.

“We need to address this issue because we have feedback from other members of staff.”

The young worker said she didn’t think it was her “fault” if colleagues were distracted by her outfits.

“This is not for me. This is something for them, – she argued.

The woman responded that people in the workplace had claimed that she was “begging for attention”, which immediately shocked her.

“Yes,” she replied.

She later relented and said she was going to go shopping for some new work clothes over the weekend, but was depressed by the experience.

Online response to her outfit was mixed.

Some thought it was fine and others just didn’t think it looked like something you’d wear to the workplace.

“That’s a club dress,” argued one.

“I was so ready to be on your side! But then you left the camera, – admitted another.

“HR is correct,” said one.

“It’s too short and narrow for the workplace,” said someone else

“It’s so inappropriate,” argued one.

Meanwhile, other people argued in the comments that it is not the woman’s “fault” if she distracts colleagues.

Someone else said she was “disappointed” to read the comments, and another said they assumed the clip was a parody and just “anger baiting”.
